scholarships

The VIII IASSCS Conference scholarship submissions is now closed.

The International Association for the Study of Sexuality, Culture and Society (IASSCS) is committed to making VIII Conference accessible to most people from Latin America; Central, South and South-East; The Pacific; Eastern Europe; Africa and the Middle East who are working in sexuality related fields or studying human sexuality.

IASSCS will award a limited number of competitive scholarships to assist as many people as possible with the limited resources available.

Priority will be given to young researchers, activists and students whose abstracts have been selected. Acceptance of the proposal does not imply funding for the participant. Thus, participants are strongly urged to seek other sources of funds when applying through IASSCS.

Funding will not be granted to those participants who received grants for the past conference. If you have received grants to participate at the Hanoi VII Conference, please do not apply.

Those interested in applying for a scholarship must access their Conference profile and complete the online Scholarship Application Form, under the Scholarship section, which will be available from November 1st, 2010 to January 10th, 2011.

Deadline for applying to IASSCS Conference Scholarship is January 10th, 2011.

General Selection Criteria

  • Overall quality of the presentation and its contribution to the enrichment of the Conference, as determined by the Scholarship Committee.
  • Selections will be based on solid and original work by the applicant, as well as publications, fieldwork, or long-standing involvement on topics relevant to sexual rights movements.
  • Applications from a variety of professional fields and institutional backgrounds are welcomed. All applicants should submit an abstract for a paper or poster.
  • Only main authors of papers are considered eligible for funding for travel support. Requests for travel support to serve as discussant or session chair (without paper) will not be considered for funding.
  • All submissions must be in English.

Decisions will be made by the IASSCS Scholarship Committee and acceptance letters will be e-mailed on April, 2011. Applicants may apply for both the IASSCS Post-Conference Fellowship and the IASSCS Conference Scholarship, if they so wish.
