The IASSCS Abstract Mentoring Program is now closed.
We are pleased to announce the 2010-2011 IASSCS Abstract Mentoring Program. The goal of this pre-submission abstract mentoring is to provide an opportunity for young and/or less experienced abstract submitters from the South to receive feedback from more experienced researchers. This program will also provide an important learning and networking experience for abstract submitters and mentors alike.
We would like to invite you to be part of this exciting learning experience by sending in your abstract for mentoring. The mentoring you will receive could make your abstract more likely to be accepted by 2011 IASSCS Conference, improving your capabilities to produce and share your work as researcher and/or activist.
The IASSCS mentoring program coordinator will facilitate the program and match mentors with submitters according to topics and common interests. The coordinator will also collaborate with the IASSCS Mentors Network to continue improving the program with the feedback of participants and mentors.
Deadline for submitting abstract for mentoring: December 20th, 2010
What to do before sending your abstract?
Prepare a draft abstract in accordance with the 2011 IASSCS Conference abstract submission guidelines.
We recommend that you have at least one supervisor or colleague to review your draft abstract and that he/she gives you feedback before sending it to the Abstract Mentoring Program.
Send your draft abstract for the Abstract Mentoring Program through your Conference profile, by clicking the link “Abstract Mentoring Program”.
Mentors will not indicate if they think the abstract is likely to be accepted or not for the Conference.
Each sent abstract will receive a feedback from the mentor, this one will contain suggestions and comments aimed to improve the abstract before submission to the 2011 IASSCS Conference.
Mentors will provide advice regarding practical issues and formal requirements on the abstract, research methods and analysis, as well as language issues.
What do we expect from you?
Abstracts sent for mentoring must be a final draft and follow the 2011 IASSCS Conference abstract submission guidelines.
Each submitter is allowed to send a maximum of 2 abstracts.
It is the submitter’s responsibility to incorporate feedback/suggestions into the abstract. Mentors are not expected to make any changes for the abstract submitter.
Abstract submitters will be expected to submit their abstracts to the 2011 IASSCS Conference before the expected deadline.
Once the program has been completed, submitters could be requested to provide a brief feedback and evaluation regarding their experience and recommendations to improve the program.
The administrator of the Mentoring Program reserves the rights to return draft abstracts to the submitters if they do not follow the 2011 IASSCS Conference abstract submission guidelines.
