The Advancing Sexualities Studies Short Course is intended as a training tool to develop critical sexuality studies research and scholarship. Academic from across the world have contributed to the creation of the course modules covering a diverse range of topics, adressed from multidisciplinary perspectives.
It has been adapted and implemented in 3 distinct regions: South America (Lima, Peru) Asia (Hanoi, Vietnam) and Africa (Durban, South Africa). As a result most ASSC modules are currently available in English and Spanish, and include local research about the 3 regions.
ASSC was funded by the Ford Foundation and developed by the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS), La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, and the International Association for the Study of Sexuality, Culture and Society (IASSCS).
The delivery of the course aims to facilitate the incorporation of the course or its modules by participants’ local universities and research institutes.
